Prof. Lin currently works on all aspects of network and VLSI architecture problems, including the design of data networks, high-performance switches and routers, high-speed network measurement mechanisms, and on-chip interconnection networks. He is also interested in the design of multiprocessor Systems-on-Chips and 3D chip architectures. He holds a BS, a MS, and a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UCSD where he has been actively involved with the Center for Wireless Communications (CWC), the Center for Networked Systems (CNS), and the California Institute for Telecommunicatons and Information Technology (Calit2). He is also currently an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at UCSD. Prior to joining UCSD, he was the head of the System Control and Communications Group at IMEC where he led a research team that worked on various aspects of VLSI architectures, system design methodologies, and systems-on-chip applications. He has co-authored over 160 journal and conference publications, including 2 Best Paper awards, 3 Best Paper nominations, and 2 Distinguished Paper citations. He has served on panels and given invited presentations at several major conferences, and he has served on over 50 program committees, including serving as the General Chair for NOCS-2009, ANSC-2010, and IWQoS-2011.
